For those familiar with Amoise, the Gris was the first wine released in 2018. This is a skin contact Pinot Gris macerated on skins for a month before pressing. This year the fruit was sourced certified Organic & Biodynamic fruit from the Wairarapa.
After a gentle foot plunge each day, then pressed and transferred into brand new Tinajas,(big Amphora) which just arrived from Spain (in the middle of harvest of course!).The Leon family have been making Tinajas (amphorae) by hand since 1783 in Caceres, Spain. Besides being magical and fragile vessels all the same, they give purity of fruit and intact vineyard expression that one can achieve by keeping the wine in contact with this special clay
