The property
Owned by the Henri Martin estates, Château Saint Pierre is a 4th Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Julien. Under the leadership of the dynamic Henri Martin, the Château Saint-Pierre vineyard as it existed in 1855 will be patiently reconstituted. This property is now among the most famous Grands Crus Classés of the emblematic appellation.
The vineyard
Located on the AOC Saint Julien, on the left bank of Bordeaux, the vineyard of Château Saint-Pierre extends over 17 hectares of vines in production. The grape varieties are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (75%), supplemented by Merlot (15%) and Cabernet Franc (10%). Benefiting from ISO 140001 and HVE 3 certification, the Henri Martin estates including Château Saint-Pierre are cultivated using sustainable farming methods with the use of organic and bio-controlled products.
The
2019 vintage is already shaping up to be an exceptional vintage in 9. After a rather mild and dry winter, a contrasting and rainy spring followed. The importance of the role played by the technical teams and their speed made it possible to keep the vineyard in perfect health. Summer then arrived, setting in with scorching temperatures. For this 2019 vintage, the harvest extended from September 23 to October 4. They made it possible to harvest grapes that had reached ideal maturity thanks to meticulous intra-plot division.
Vinification
The Saint-Julien Château Saint-Pierre 2019 was subject to extended vatting over 18 to 23 days. The aging takes place in barrels with a proportion of 49% new wood.
Blend
The Saint-Julien Château Saint-Pierre 2019 is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (79%), supplemented by Merlot (21%).
Tasting
With wines rich in color, a complex aromatic expression marked by a beautiful maturity of the fruit and a mouth that is both precise and structured, 2019 presents all the qualities of a very great vintage for Château Saint-Pierre.
