DESCRIPTION
Barrel-fermented Sauvignon of the outstanding quality and refinement of Dog Point Section 94 offers a hedonistic experience for all serious white wine drinkers of any persuasion. It’s a world class white wine that first and foremost is just a beautiful wine before you think of it as Sauvignon. I’ve had the privilege of enjoying aged Sauvignon led Bordeaux whites including wines like Haut Brion Blanc ($1,000/bottle in the best years) from special vintages and I firmly believe this Dog Point Section 94 is in that class of wine. 2011 is so beautifully harmonised at 11-years of age… it’s quite ethereal really and although the costly aging has been done for drinkers… it can be bought at current release pricing… WOW!
Smells
Yellow tree fruits, fine cedary oak, a whiff of flint and dried herbs like oregano and perhaps cardamom.
Tastes
Rounded and subtly toasty with a rich bed of ripe yellow fruits. Superb freshness and elegant oak underpin its exceptional length, richness and harmony. This is a gorgeous Section 94, amazing experience for such a modest price its immediately pleasurable but with plenty to offer through 2024 and perhaps beyond.
