“From, high altitude, low-yielding, old grenache vines in the region of Calatayud. Moderately big, juicy grenache with a satisfyingly rich, smooth texture. Plum, dark berry and spice flavours with a suggestion of violets. A very appealing wine offering great value at this price. Drink: 2019 to 2023.” – Bob Campbell MW
“A generous and meaty red with lively but discreet acidity lifting, which keeps the full body light on its feet on the long, clean finish. Drink now or hold.“ – James Suckling
Tasting Note: The wine exhibits great aromatic complexity and richness with mineral and blueberry notes leading to a savoury and spicy palate with good balance and acidity.
Winemaking Notes: The grapes come from vines that are 30-40 years old, with yields of 2T/Ha and located high on the hillsides, 700-900 metres above sea level. The vineyards are mainly planted in decomposed slate and gravel/clay soils. The fermentation was carried out in small stainless steel tanks for 15 days at temperatures below 27 C and then spent a short period of two months in French oak barrels.
