DESCRIPTION
From a near perfect vintage in 2020, when the weather gods were at peace and gifted us a hot, dry growing season. The biggest challenge was knowing when to pick as grape sugars accumulated faster than the flavours and tannin ripeness.
Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the two titans of Bordeaux, have been blending partners for hundreds of years, Merlot adding roundness and comfort to Cabernet’s richness and boldness.
Hawkes’ Bay’s Alluvial soils and Maritime Climate produce muscular wines with bright primary fruits.
Dense and concentrated, ripe boysenberry, plum and blackcurrant with cocoa and dried herbs. Dusty tannins, juicy acidity – firm structure. Toasty oak – cedar smoke and spice.
