Description
A delicious cherry liqueur from the Luxardo company.
This liqueur takes its name from ‘Sangue Morlacco’ or Morlacco’s Blood. The name was devised by Gabriele d’Annunzio, a writer, who compared the liqueur to the blood of the Morlaccos – warriors who defended the Republic of Venice against Turkish invaders.
The spirit itself is made with the juice of Marasca cherries – a sour style of cherry – and is aged in oak vats for two years.
The end product is an intensely flavoured cherry liqueur, with notes of almond paste, jammy cherries, black pepper, vanilla, sour black cherries, tart raspberries and lemon rind.
Very intense compared to most cherry liqueurs – this would work beautifully in cocktails.
