Description
One and only bottle in New Zealand
The Macallan knows that cask quality has the greatest influence in producing the most exceptional whisky.
As renowned masters of spirit and wood. The Macallan have for centuries ensured that it’s ‘New Make’ spirit is matured in only the finest oak Casks and today continue to invest more in their casks than any other single malt.
Select Oak journey from acorn to glass has taken over 100 years and spanned three cask types. It is a uniquely complex combination of first-fill European oak casks seasoned with sherry and American oak casks seasoned with either sherry or bourbon.
Each cask has been handcrafted and hand-selected under the supervision of George Espie, The Macallan’s Master of Wood.
The thick layers of Black Forest cake frosted with meltingly sweet marshmallow cream and stuffed with decadently preserved fruits is a dessert both divinely rich and luxurious – just as a sip of The Macallan 1824 Series Select Oak Single Malt Scotch.
This masterfully crafted malt whiskey swirls with an aroma of warmly toasted oak spiced with black pepper, melted marshmallows, chocolate cake batter, and fruits.
The taste is a rush of nutty goodness with slices of almonds dipped in vanilla, strips of vintage leather soaked in sherry, and bright bites of citrus peel layered over ginger candies.
Originally scheduled for duty-free release only, and now largely sold out in Europe.
The Macallan Select Oak is a discontinued, travel retail exclusive bottling and is no longer widely available. It was part of the Macallan 1824 Collection and was marketed between 2012 and 2018. While you might find it on the secondary market or through online auctions, it’s not generally available at retail outlets
