This superior wine was sourced from grapes grown entirely on our Mere Road vineyard in the Hawkes Bay wine growing region. This rising-star variety was harvested in optimum condition at 19.5o Brix
Four parcels from carefully chosen rows were vinified separately. After a two day cold soak to extract important colour and flavour components, the musts were fermented with selected yeasts in open top and closed top stainless steel vats with diligent cap management, before being pressed off skins. The wine was aged for nine months in quality oak, 56% French and 44% American of which 29% was new wood.
This delicious Syrah conveys boysenberry fruit and white pepper spice, with a hint of liquorice, whilst ageing in quality oak barrels has conferred depth,
supple tannins and fine earthy notes. A lovely complex wine to accompany your favourite red meat dishes.
