TASTING NOTES
50% of this wine was fermented in old French barrels, not for the oak, but for the form of the vessel itself. Mouthfeel is gained here by high lees to wine contact and a more efficient natural lees stirring across unhurried wild ferments.
BRAND INFORMATION
Rippon is a unique parcel of land on the shores of Lake Wānaka, farmed across successive generations of the Mills family for over 100 years. From soil to bottle, Rippon’s focus is on allowing this singular and extraordinary land to express itself to its full potential. As pioneers in the Central Otago wine industry, most of their plantings are mature, own-rooted vines, cultivated biodynamically (BioGro and Demeter certified) and without irrigation.
Wānaka is the closest Central Otago subregion to the Southern Alps of New Zealand; Raw schist, mountainous terrain, lake influence and relative temperance issues wines that are defined by precision, textural detail and articulation. Rippon's mission is to maintain an evolving culture which educates, motivates & sustains team and family members, connecting them with the land and its future.
