Description
Three generations. Three grapes. And three times three is nine. Nice score for an Alsace blend with a natural wine designation.
Grandfather Charles Frey could not have imagined that when he received 0.75 hectares of land from his father in 1958. He decided to plant grapes on it. Farmers elsewhere in the region also had success with this. That also happened to him: albeit with trial and error.
Son took over the reins and raised the bar even higher: it had to be biodynamic. And his two sons, Thiébaud and Julien, studied even more rigorously. They started making natural wine, with grapes from the vines that Grandpa Charles had planted, which are now 60+ years old. That turned out great in 2022. With lychees, rose hips, pear in the pan, apple with marmalade, exotic spices and – despite its charming unpolishedness – also with a wonderful freshness.
