Nero d’Avola is a native Sicilian variety that is perfectly suited to the hot, dry climate of the Riverland. This year, with the hotter conditions and earlier pick date, we see a more textural, crunchier style, whilst still exhibiting the aromatic, lush characteristics we love to show in the wine.
After crushing, the fruit was left to soak on skins for 6 hours, giving the wine its the lovely blush pink colour. The 2020 Rosato brings back all the elements that make this wine such a favourite, lush strawberries and cream on the nose; super refreshing raspberry and rose water on the front palate. But it’s the savoury notes that are really shining through on this wine and continue to impress – herbaceous, acid-driven and moreish to keep it all working together. It’s everything we want to see in a rose, and about as smashable as it gets.
