The 2020 growing season was a fantastic one. A long warm summer, with cool nights and just enough rain at the right times, which has enabled us to create delicate and elegant wines with a lovely balance of flavour, texture and acid purity.
This wine was made from a parcel of Chardonnay vines from a small 1Ha block situated behind the winery. This block experiences higher vigor but also less sun. The resulting wine is a pure,
more mineral expression of the vineyard. This Chardonnay was whole-bunch pressed and left to settle overnight before being aged for 10 months in 5 year old puncheons. The wine was then transferred from barrel to a stainless steel tank, where it spent 8 months before being bottled in August 2021. This wine exhibits lemon pith, nectarine and mineral aromatics. A burst of vibrancy on the palate like biting into a fresh nectarine with creaminess to follow. Light, with a subtle hint of
light, old oak. Minerality is king here, leaving the palate feeling fresh.
