Excellent growing conditions in 2018, another fantastic year for Cabernet Sauvignon in Hawkes Bay. Hotter than the previous years, day time temperatures above average with warmer night-time temperatures continue to ripe the fruit to full potential. After pressing, the juice was aged composedly in new French oak which plays a vital role by supporting the concentrated fruit flavours and provide the complexity towards Cabernet Sauvignon showing Le Galant 2018 to be a great wine with strong back-bone and firm structure. This Bordeaux left-bank style wine is fresh, dense and tight. With a youthful note of graphite, black currant, violet and tobacco. The palate is close but with hidden force like the beast in the cave! The finish is refined and balanced, a powerful wine needs a lot of patience for the reward. If must, open for a half day in the de-canter but otherwise cellar for at least 5 years before it starts to shine.
