Description
The 2018 Obsidian Reserve ‘The Mayor’ is a distinctive Bordeaux-style blend from Waiheke Island, New Zealand. Unlike many traditional blends from the region, it purposefully excludes Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, focusing instead on a “visionary” combination of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec.
The 2018 vintage in Waiheke was characterized by a dry summer followed by a challenging, wet autumn, resulting in wines that are generally more elegant and lean rather than high-alcohol blockbusters.

Aroma: A bouquet of red liquorice, raspberry, and red currant, accented by herbal perfumes and violets. There are subtle secondary notes of dark chocolate and cedar.
