Description
A direct contrast in style to the 2021 Cuvee L'Insolite (which is 100% whole bunch), the 2021 vintage of Yoshiaki & Kyoko Sato's Northburn Station Pinot Noir is both savoury and earthy yet incredibly soft and plush on the palate. Think bright, juicy red fruits with a nicely integrated, fine boned tannins.
Vintage: 2021 Vineyard: Northburn Vineyard - lake side terrace facing west Soil: Sandy, stony loam over river gravel with mineral rich schist and quartz Viticulture: No pesticides, herbicides, systemic fungicides or inorganic fertilisers used Harvest: Hand picked. 19 & 25 March 2021. 27 HL/Ha Vinification: Natural yeast fermentation. No whole bunch. 20-24 days on skins. No additives except 17 mg/L sulphites before bottling Maturation: 15 months in French oak barrels. No new oak. Bottling: 17 August 2022 without fining or filtration. 2461 bottles produced (just 9 barrels!)
