The late Gregg Trott saw many of his unusual dreams realised at Wirra Wirra. Yet one vision elluded him – to build a medieval siege machine, or trebuchet. Why? To use as a catapult to bomb neighbouring wineries with bottles of wine of course! Classic McLaren Vale Shiraz is blended with a touch of Viognier, just for something different – just like Trotty.
Lively and vibrant, Catapult’s nose shows plenty of dark berry fruits, particularly blueberries and boysenberries. There are some lifted notes of dried cherries and tamarillo and beetroot juice freshness. The palate shows plenty of spice; cinnamon sticks and star anise, with some vanilla bean generosity and richness. The tannins are mouthcoating and lengthy with a fragrant finish.
Drink upon release or up to 5 years from vintage.
