The fruity flavour & spice undertones of this wine blend perfectly with steak, such as filet mignon with potato puree
Loop Road experienced an extraordinary summer resulting in the hottest growing season ever in Central Otago’s modern history. Early flowering and ripening meant that the normal six months of growing was condensed into a compact five months. February rain brought relief for the vines and enabled the fruit to achieve physiological ripeness, and warmer than normal nights led to lower acidity. As a result, the harvest was brought forward to achieve optimum balance.
Hand-picked in ripe condition on the 19th March 2018. 6-tonne fermenters were used to cold soak the fruit for 3 – 5 days before indigenous fermentation took place peaking at 30°C.
This was then pressed into the barrel (10% new, 20% one to two years old and 70% three years old) where it was aged for 8 months.
