Description
Warwick’s vineyards are located in Stellenbosch and are almost all found in the foothills of the Simonsberg Mountains. The vineyards’ altitude ranges from 240 to 360 meters above sea level. This is ideal for viticulture, as the grapes benefit from the cooling effect of the altitude. The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness. After destemming, skin maceration and alcoholic fermentation begin. The wine is then aged for 17 months in oak barrels. No new oak is used to preserve the wine’s fruity character. Warwick wines are organically produced (not certified), meaning no artificial fertilizers, chemical pesticides, or herbicides are used. At Warwick, they take things a step further and use the sun and moon to determine harvesting and pruning schedules.
Taste: Beautiful full mouth with ripe tannins and flavors of coffee and cherries with a firm aftertaste.
Nose: The nose is dominated by aromas of chocolate and almonds.
Storage: A wine to drink immediately, but can certainly be kept for a few years.
